Republican Senators Condemn Violence, Killing Against Egypt Coptic Christians; Call on US to Respond

Lamar Alexander, Bob Corker and Roy Blunt have called on Secretary of State John Kerry and the State Department to do more to protect Egypt's Coptic Christians.

Three Republican Senators have urged Secretary of State, John Kerry, and the U.S. State Department to help "stop sectarian violence and end the persecution of Coptic Christians in Egypt."
Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Bob Corker (R-TN), and Roy Blunt (R-MO) argued that the "deteriorating situation of Egypt's Christian minority is a matter of great concern" and that the recent wave of violence directed at Coptic Christians "warrants a clear U.S. response."
The letter was released a day after gunmen stormed a Coptic wedding in Cairo, fired into the crowd and killed four people, including two girls who were eight and 12.
The shooting, which occurred in Egypt's capital, displayed an antagonism against Christians that in recent months had been reserved to Muslim Brotherhood strongholds in southern Egypt. In July, just days after Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi was overthrown, Islamists overtook the city of Dalga, later forcing the thousands of Christians in the city to either flee or lay low in their homes in seeming house arrest.
In August, pro-Morsi protests turned into anti-Christian riots when crowds burned over 70 churches and Coptic institutions and killed four people.
The senators mentioned the recent attacks, but also spoke to incidents that had occurred during the course and aftermath of the Arab Spring, including "large-scale attacks against Christians in Maspero in October 2011, Imbaba in May 2011, and Alexandria in January 2011," which caused "dozens of deaths and hundreds of injuries."

The letter also addressed the apparent complacence of Egyptian authorities in failing to halt the attacks against Copts, citing an 18-hour attack on Christians in Dab'iya where police "were present at the scene but failed to take any action to stop the violence and prevent casualties."
"The local security officer in charge reportedly told an international investigator that 'it's not [the police's] job to stop killings. We just investigate afterward,'" stated the letter.
The senators also called the State Department to put more pressure on the interim government to protect Egyptian religious minorities and to urge the administration to nominate another ambassador-at-large for religious freedom to replace Suzanne Johnson Cook, who resigned last week.
They also expressed their fears that "Egypt is part of a broader trend: religious freedoms throughout the Middle East and South Central Asia, particularly for Christians, are under assault," and said it was imperative that the U.S. respond and "continue to be a forceful defender of religious freedom throughout the world."

Dear Fox friends,

John McCain needs to learn the Arabic language and the truth of Islam before his off the cuff comment about the word, “Allahu, Akbar.”

1 - Allahu Akbar means allah is great

2-Muslims use this word only in time of killing any non-Muslim to have the support from their allah who teach Muslims in the Koran and Hadith, to kill anyone who does not believe in their way.

3-Allahu akbar is not same as for the Christian thank you God

4-Allahu akbar according to the Islamic tradition and history use this word in any Islamic war

5-John McCain’s comment was same as George W. Bush when he said Islam is a religion of love and peace. All Muslims around the world are taking John McCain comment the same as George W. Bush as a funny and a comical.

6 -I'm a ex-prisoner of Egypt for 6 months at the Abuzaabel prison for my Christian faith and according to Shariaa Islamia.

7 -I was given the death penalty with 7 other people from the Egyptian court for defending the Copts (Christians of Egypt) from all discrimination for their Christians beliefs, according to the Shariaa Islamya

Dear Nabil,

This is part one of a two-part email illustrating how “Jihad Denial Syndrome” has blinded the judgment of so many of our federal politicians, both Republican and Democrat.

“Jihad Denial Syndrome” is a term coined by ACT! for America Executive Director Guy Rodgers in a column he wrote in 2010 that appeared in The Hill’s Congress Blog.

Today we highlight Republican Senator John McCain, who in a recent Fox News interview compared Muslims screaming “Allahu Akbar” to Christians saying “Thank God.”

Educating John McCain on the Meaning of ‘Allahu-Akbar’

During a Tuesday (9/3/13) morning appearance (Preview) on Fox News Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) took umbrage (hat tip Ben Shapiro) at Fox News host Brian Kilmeade’s disgust with Syrian anti-Assad opposition groups shouting “Allahu Akhbar! Allahu Akhbar!” when their rockets apparently shot down a Syrian jet.

To Kilmeade, appropriately, such outcries illustrated the predominant jihadist influence within the coalition of groups opposing the Assad regime. Kilmeade stated (Preview) ,
I have a problem helping those people screaming that [Allahu-Akbar!] after a hit.

A perturbed, if typically feckless McCain replied (Preview) , without any basic linguistic understanding, or supportive evidence of the rocket launchers’ alleged “moderation,” by making an immoral equivalence to Christianity:
Would you have a problem with an American or Christians saying “thank God? Thank God?” That’s what they’re saying. Come on! Of course they’re Muslims, but they’re moderates and I guarantee you they are moderates.

One of the English translators of the great 14th century Muslim jurist (d. 1350) Ibn Qayyim’s “The Way to Patience and Gratitude” opts for “Allah is Greater” as the specific translation of Allahu Akbar. On page 463, the following explanation is provided:

…I preferred using “the Greater” to “the Greatest”… Allahu Akbar literally means, “Allah is Greater” with the comparative mode. Yet, this does not mean that He (Glory be to Him) is not the Greatest, nor does it mean that there is anything that is put in comparison with Him. This is because when the Muslim says it, he means He is “Greater” than anything else, which, consequently, means He is the Greatest. This use gives more influence. This may be why it is used in Arabic this way, otherwise it should have been used as “Allahu al-Akbar”, in the superlative mode. Surely, Allah Knows best.

E. W. Lane’s classical 19th century Arabic English Lexicon, (p. 2587) elaborates on the preferred “elliptical” meaning:

[Allah] is the greatest great [being] or [Allah] is greater than every other great [being]

“Allahu Akbar” has been employed by Muslims as a jihadist war cry dating from its declaration by Islam’s prophet Muhammad when he made an aggressive proto-jihadist foray on the Jews of the Khaybar oasis. Here is how the phrase has been rendered into English by pious Muslims from the canonical hadith collection (Sahih Bukhari 4:52:195):

Narrated Anas: The Prophet set out for Khaibar and reached it at night. He used not to attack if he reached the people at night, till the day broke. So, when the day dawned, the Jews came out with their bags and spades. When they saw the Prophet; they said, “Muhammad and his army!” The Prophet said, “Allahu-Akbar! (Allah is Greater) and Khaybar is ruined, for whenever we approach a nation (i.e. enemy to fight) then it will be a miserable morning for those who have been warned.”

The willful intellectual and moral blindness of U.S. political and military leaders to the doctrine of jihad—epitomized by John McCain—continues to engender self-destructive “solutions” to global jihad depredations, in Syria, and across the globe.
